Born 1985 in Sheffield, South Yorkshire
Lives in Glasgow, works around the UK
Through working in galleries, research libraries and archives Richard has developed an interest in how such environments conceptualize forms of creating, presenting and archiving artwork. His work is largely object based dealing with how drawing can be a cross-media activity: his projects often consult variable architectures and site-specificity, developing presentation as a medium next to which drawing, note making/taking and documentation are re-defined.
Alongside his practice Richard works as an online editor for a-n The Artist Information Company developing and managing the sites, delivering workshops and encouraging alternative structures to support student and working artists. Richard is also the co-founder of OUTofOFFICE, a group alternatively representing artists and modes of curatorial practice through collaboration with varied exhibition sites, both virtual and physical (tinyurl.com/outofofficeEW-group).
Richard continues to work on the periphery of ‘thinking’ towards how a Studio practice can be maintained: this being a conceptual endeavour, he widens the variability of his practice seeking artist residencies, collaborative/solo projects and further curatorial investigation.
